HANDMADE IN INDIA

INDIAN HAND-MADE RUG

The handmade clay-dyed tapestries from India feature beautifully arranged grid-like patterns reminiscent of tiles.

Made using traditional wax-resist dyeing techniques, each piece is unique, with slight variations in color and irregularities in lines as characteristic handmade traces.

Natural clay-dyed products have lower color fastness compared to chemically dyed products, making them prone to color transfer through friction and gradual fading over time, along with a slight sandy texture. However, these qualities are part of the allure for clay-dye enthusiasts, so please understand before purchasing.

Regarding Indian handmade "clay-dyed" tapestries:

They embody a unique culture that is highly admired. India stands out globally in interpreting beauty, projecting ethnic personality into various aspects of life: food, clothing, architecture, design, and everyday objects. With the simplest techniques, Indians weave the most eye-catching and intricate works.

This clay dye technique is one of India's ancient fabric dyeing methods, using natural blue pigments extracted from the earth. On blankets woven from organic cotton, artisans use brushes dipped in impermeable wax to draw richly ethnic motifs. The fabric is then repeatedly soaked, rubbed, and dried in dye vats until it achieves a rich, even brown hue. Finally, the wax is melted away with hot water, resulting in unique handmade tapestries.

MATERIAL : 100% COTTON
SIZE : 150 X 240 ( cm )
